The whole team is getting together on January 17-19th in Cambridge for our annual training, where we review our plans for the year, what issues are being covered in the Annual Reviews, special projects and compliance issues (like Health and Safety, and AML). We are being joined for some sessions this year by Janet Natta (who is our colleague who will step in to work with our clients if anything was to happen to Carey and Peter), Graeme Burbery (who works with some of our Waikato insurance clients), Mary and Retha from ANZ who will update us on developments with KiwiSaver, ANZ MAC and OneAnswer Portfolio Solutions, and Mark from Partners Life, who will be updating us on the Special Events Increase Benefits and the Terminal Illness Benefit product and answering our questions.
Carey and Peter
Peter and Carey have finally moved into their ‘dream home’ in Cambridge, which has a separate wing for our offices, and for people to come and meet with us. We look forward to seeing you here if you are in the Cambridge region. We are putting the finishing touches onto the house, and starting on gardens.
Work wise, January sees a lot of compulsory compliance work (updating AML/CFT policies, disclosures, Adviser Business Statements and Professional Development Plans), for all three of our advisers. Carey is finalising business planning and budgets and Peter is updating all the Investment Product Summaries, and establishing his research programme for the year.
Personally, we are starting off the new year with cycle rides, Carey is exercising her mums dog, Bella and planning our overseas travel.
As well as completing his compulsory compliance work, Paul is starting off the year with a new car, a nice Gun Metal Nissan Qashqai.
Paul has a number of financial plans that he is working on for new clients that have been referred to him, and is also working on insurance and mortgage work for existing Moneyworks clients.
Personally, Paul is playing golf, but not as regularly as he would like, and spending time with his daughters Chloe and Grace (who is in University holidays).
Karol and Mereana
Karol and Mereana hit the ground running with a large number of annual reviews to complete and get out to clients for the January and February annual reviews. They also spend time dealing with email and client queries and working on specific projects from time to time.
Mereana has returned to live in Turangi, and her son Max is off to Intermediate/Middle school in Taupo. Karol lives in Reporoa, and her family is heavily involved with the rodeo circuit during January of each year. Karols’ son Paddy travels extensively with his acting/stuntman career, (http://www.actionhouse.co.nz/paddy-church) and her daughters Chelsey and Nardia live and work in Western Australia and the deep South Island respectively.
