We all know how easy it is to procrastinate about money things.
Here is a checklist of things that it might be time for you to review and sort out:
Do you need all those bank accounts? Should you close some and save fees?
Are there better returning bank accounts – at call accounts for funds that are your emergency savings?
Are there lower fee accounts available?
2. Credit cards
How many credit cards do you really need?
If you have debt owing on your credit cards, should you increase your mortgage and pay the credit cards off then cut up the credit cards? The interest rate on the mortgage is much lower.
3. Check your recurring bills
Do you really need all those things you signed up for?
Can you get Lightwire or Spotify free with a Spark mobile phone or broadband subscription?
Are you getting the best value for your Electricity? –
4. Are your fire and general insurances the most appropriate?
Are you paying extra to have a ‘young’ driver on your car insurance (and that young driver is now much older and the extra payment or exclusion is no longer relevant)
5. What about your life, trauma, income protection, mortgage repayment and health insurances?
When was the last time that you did a review of these to see if they were still relevant for you?
6. When was the last time you did a tax return?
Do you have donations or costs you can claim? Do you know if you might actually be due a refund?
7. Do you know how much you need to save for retirement?
