This is the fith year that Mindful Money have run the Ethical Financial Adviser of the Year Award. For the first four years, this award focussed on the whole business - looking at what all the advisers in the business did around ethical investing.
We didn't enter for the first two years, but were sponsors of the awards. In the third and fourth year we entered and were winners.
For the fifth year, Mindful Money changed things up and asked for nominations of individual people to enter the award. Carey Church was a finalist along with Mark Holtom of Ethical Investing and Rodger Spiller from Money Matters.
The awards were held in Auckland on Thursday June 6th, following the afternoon conference run by Mindful Money.
We are thrilled that Carey Church was named as a winner for the third consecutive year. Below is the comment made when the winner was announced.
"The judges were particularly impressed by the commitment shown by Carey Church to undertake thorough research and climate consultation, so that ethical issues are integrated throughout the client advice processes. She is generous with her advice and support for others in her community and across the financial advice sector."
The information that the judges provided when Carey was named as a finalist are as follows:
"The judges were highly complementary of your work and also the excellent entry that you submitted. It included a wealth of detail, showing your thoroughness and commitment to sound client processes. The four pillars approach is closely aligned with ethical investing and well-articulated.
Your entry demonstrated a high level of practice in all aspects of the criteria. The judges particularly welcomed your thoroughness in research, including the use of innovative technologies and the use of backcasting; and thorough processes for matching clients to the most suitable portfolios.
The judges also recognised that you play a leading role beyond your client relationships, through active community work and support for the ethical investment sector. They congratulated you on your B-Corps certification."
Continuing with Carey's commitment to active community work and support for the ethical investment sector and financial planning industry, she has been invited to run webinars on the four pillars approach to client offering to two industry organisations.
Carey was a co-winner of the award with Dr Rodger Spiller.
