Wow, just wow. I am thrilled
In February 2022 I idly went on to the B-Corp assessment site to see what it was all about, with a goal of going through the whole process in a year or two. The average score of companies that complete the assessment is 50.9 and you require 80 points to become certified. I thought that we had a lot more work to do to 'get there'.
I was surprised and pleased that our score indicated that all of the work that we had done on our business to get ready for the FMCA licensing, meant that we were ready to apply and certify.
B-Corp is a global certification for companies that have committed to 'doing business for good'. There are just under 10,000 companies globally and around 170 in New Zealand that have certified.
By August 2022 we had certified for B-Corp - the first financial adviser in New Zealand to do this. Since then we have engaged with and met many amazing people in the B-Corp world and have continued transforming our business.
Three years on, it was time to re-certify, I was confident that the work that we had done would have lifted our score a little.
But I was not prepared for our huge leap in score from 102.9 in 2022 to our amazing 139 score this year. [We understand that this is one of the highest scores in New Zealand].
This jump in our score reflects the new systems and processes that we put in place because of the B-Corp process (eg annual client surveys), but also the maturing of all of our other processes that were still embryonic three years ago.
Thanks to our great team Peter Church, Paul Swarbrick, Saravanan Sankar and all the amazing inspiring people and organisations we have met and engaged with along the way.
